We successfully delivered a comprehensive refurbishment of the weighing room and associated jockey facilities at Haydock Racecourse, transforming outdated accommodation into a modern, durable and fully compliant environment.

The project included the refurbishment of the weighing room, changing facilities, showers, WCs, laundry, warm-up room, physio room, broadcast area and supporting spaces.

Through careful remodelling, upgraded building services and high-quality finishes, the completed scheme has enhanced operational efficiency while providing an improved experience for jockeys, officials and racecourse staff.

PROJECT SCOPE

The refurbishment works were designed to modernise the weighing room facilities, improve functionality and create high-quality spaces capable of meeting the demands of a busy racecourse. Our works included:

Complete strip-out of existing finishes, fixtures and redundant mechanical and electrical services
Internal remodelling, including new partition walls and reconfigured room layouts
Installation of new safety flooring, hygienic wall cladding and suspended ceiling systems
Mechanical and electrical upgrades, including new LED lighting, distribution board improvements and fire alarm alterations

Refurbishment of the weighing room, changing rooms, WCs, showers, laundry, warm-up room, physio room and supporting facilities
Installation of new sanitaryware, bespoke jockey stalls, specialist joinery, fitted furniture and storage solutions
Full internal decoration and installation of durable finishes throughout

The project was delivered under a JCT Minor Works Building Contract with Contractor's Design over a nine-week programme. Careful planning and phased delivery ensured the refurbishment was completed within a live racecourse environment while minimising disruption to race meetings and day-to-day operations.
