We successfully delivered the £1 million refurbishment and extension of Chilypep's Youth & Community Hub in Sheffield, transforming a former GP surgery into a modern, flexible facility designed to support young people across South Yorkshire.

Funded through the Government-backed Youth Investment Fund, the project formed part of a wider initiative to create a sustainable, inclusive community asset that reflects the needs of local young people. Working in partnership with Fourth Wall Building Consultancy, we delivered a high-quality refurbishment and extension that significantly increased the building's capacity while improving accessibility, functionality and long-term sustainability.

The completed hub now provides a welcoming environment with dedicated youth spaces, wellbeing and counselling facilities, IT resources, sports provision and flexible community areas, enabling Chilypep to expand the vital services it delivers throughout the region.

PROJECT SCOPE

The project combined refurbishment, extension and sustainability improvements to create a future-ready community facility. Our works included:

Refurbishment of a former GP surgery into a modern youth and community hub
Construction of extensions to increase capacity and improve functionality
Creation of flexible youth spaces, counselling and wellbeing rooms, IT facilities and community areas
Installation of renewable energy technologies, including solar panels and an air source heat pump

Accessibility improvements to create an inclusive environment for all users
Retention and enhancement of the existing structure, reducing embodied carbon by approximately 60% compared with demolition and rebuild
Delivered under a JCT Design & Build contract in partnership with Fourth Wall Building Consultancy
